A terra-cotta statue presenting a Madonna and Child, made in workshop from Le Mans at the end of the 17th century.
In the 17th century, the French region Maine was very active regarding the creation of grand terra-cotta statues with, for example the ceramists Charles Hoyau and Delabarre.
Period : 1680-1700
Height : 98 cm
Width : 38 cm
Depth : 25 cm
Condition : very good, few fingers and one leg of the Child missing
