Sitting on a barrel, the man in the red jacket is shown from behind. His right arm appears to be holding a sword, while his left hand is clutching a glass of red wine. The man is bent over a table, where a beer pitcher with the brewer’s star and a deep dish are placed. Because of the viewpoint, only a small part of his face with a long red nose can be seen. He wears a high hat and smokes a pipe, from which the smoke escapes through a window directly above him. In the upper left corner, a bunch of onions hangs from a wooden chandelier with candles.
