A Madonna and Child in carved walnut, 18th century.
Description
A carved walnut statuette representing a Madonna and Child. The Madonna is standing up and holding her child in her arms. She is wearing a large garment, covering her body and creating numerous and various folds. Her gaze is directed downwards, probably to look at the viewer. The infant Jesus, in his mother arms, is wearing a cloth that hides his private parts. He is looking at his mother. Finally, we can note that the statuette is placed on a black and turned wooden base.
