Description
A gilded silver chalice, made in Lyon by the silversmith Jean Vazel, known from 1629 until 1661. It is decorated with angel heads and fruits. The base is engraved with Arma Christi and coats of arms.
French silver pieces made before 1689 are quite seldom because Louis XIV ordered that the silversmithery was melted dow for the war expenses against the Grand Alliance.Period : 1629 – 1661
