A Paul Spindler marquetry , view of the Cathedral of Strasbourg, 1937.
A marquetry by Paul Spindler (1906-1980) presenting the view of the Notre-Dame Cathedral of Strasbourg above the roofs of the city. The inlay is signed ‘Spindler’ in the lower right corner. The work is completed with a brass cartel, in the center of the lower part of the frame, with the engraved dedication “Les officiers et s/officiers (sous-officiers) du 2ème Bon(Bataillon) du 172ème R.I.F (Régiment d’Infanterie Française) au Commandant Treyssac – Strasbourg 28.10.37” (“The officers and officers (non-commissioned officers) of the 2nd Good (Battalion) of the 172nd R.I.F (French Infantry Regiment) to the Commander Treyssac – Strasbourg 10.28.37”).
