Description

An oil painting on hardboard depicting a snowy view of Strasbourg, created in the mid-20th century. This view, taken from Petite France, offers a panorama blanketed in snow. The Alsatian houses, blending with the vegetation in the foreground, gradually reveal the spire of Strasbourg Cathedral.

Robert Kuven (1901 Strasbourg – 1983 Strasbourg) was a Strasbourg-based painter born in August 1901, renowned for his watercolours, who also experimented with oil painting. He attended the School of Decorative Arts in Cologne. He travelled to England to study the works of Joseph Mallord William Turner. He died in Strasbourg in 1983.
