Description

An oil painting on wooden panel depicting a scene with a drunken Silenus, made during the 17th century, attributed to Cornelis van Poelenburg (1586-1667).
The mythological story takes place in a glade, during a sunset.
Cornelis van Poelenburg was an history and landscape painter, born in Utrecht in 1586 and died in the same city in 1667. He was a student of Abraham Bloemert, and worked through his career in London and Rome.
