Description

A Bronze mortar with a black patina and a characteristic conal shape by the Master of Saint-Michel, of which only five mortars have been attributed. He has worked alongside the IC-IF group with which he shares stylistic affinities.

On the outer wall, there is a succession of atlas that since 1620-1630 are used instead of buttresses in the region. Between them, there are six cartridges of various shapes, grouped by four floral motifs also visible at the neck.

We can observe in the medallions different representations, including twice the archangel Saint-Michel holding his balance for the last judgment. There are also representations of St. John and the Virgin Mary, both from a crucifixion. In the two last cartridges, there are two unidentified biblical scenes.
