Description
A carved and gilded wood Rocaille mirror, Strasbourg. Gold and silver leaf gilding. Scotia profile frame featuring chased detailing of palmettes and scrolling foliage, carved Rocaille ornaments in the corners, and a five leaf palmette adorning the upper section.
Period: circa 1750-1770

Condition: previously regilded, anient gesso, mirror plate replaced
Featured in the exhibition “The Art of the Mirror in Strasbourg in the 18th Century,” held from September 17 to October 17, 2026.
