A copper engraving presenting a view of Sélestat, made by Barbier around the middle of the 18th century. On this panorama, we can see multiple buildings of Sélestat inside the curtain wall, numbered and described in the lower caption in latin. At the top center of the engraving, we can read the title “Selestadium Novum / versus orientem” (New Sélestat / Eastern side). At the low center of the engraving, we can see the Sélestat’s coat of arms, representing a crowned lion with a double tail. This engraving is extracted from Johann Daniel Schoepflin’s Alsatia Illustrata Germanica, published in 1761.
