A bronze statue made in the end of the 19th century, and presenting François Rabelais (1483-1553).
Description
A bronze statue showing François Rabelais, model by Henry Etienne Dumaige (1830-1888).
The latter shows Francois Rabelais (1483-1553), a French writter and humanist, with a feather in his hand. On the base of the statue figure the following inscriptions : “François Rabelais”, and “Henry Dumaige”. The original monument was inaugurated in the city of Tours in 1880.
