Description
A barber-surgeon trepanning instruments’ set belonging by “Henry,” made of steel and blackened wood in the 18th century. Trepanation is a surgical procedure involving the opening of the skull. In this case, either the perforator or the exfoliator, can be attached to the end of the trepanning brace. It is used to drill into the bones of the skull. The other three instruments, the 5-edged rugine, the 4-edged rugine, and the meningophylax, are used after the trepanation. The maker’s name, “HENRY,” is stamped on the metal handle of the trepan.
