Description
A silver ciborium in the neoclassical style made in Rodez circa 1780 by Jean-Joseph Lacoste (1776-1797). It is set on a circular foot adorned with a stamped palmette frieze. Its shaft is composed of two shoulders decorated with gadroons and a knot combining gadroon and lanceolate leaves. The cup, gilded inside, is topped with a lid also lined with lanceolate leaves. Dedicated to the preservation of consecrated hosts for the Eucharist, this essential object for the liturgy is often commissioned by the parish or cathedral chapter.
