Description

An ink drawing presenting a view of Colmar, made by Jean Auguste Dubois (1892-1973). Painter, watercolorist, and engraver from Gresswiller, Dubois was a founding member of the Association of Independent Artists of Alsace (AIDA). On the back, there is the mention “KOLMAR” which can inform us about a completion date before 1918.

Jean Auguste Dubois exhibited regularly in Strasbourg; more spontaneously in Paris, where he had previously distinguished himself for the first time at the Orangerie in 1908, and in Germany.
Etching earned him unconditional success.
Between the two wars, he restored murals in the churches of Betschdorf, Harkirchen, and Weiterswiller
