Description
An oil on canvas depicting the Rhine Falls and Laufen Castle in the southwest of Schaffhausen in Switzerland. The work is unsigned but could be attributed to Georg Friedrich Gmelin who illustrated the same subject in 1783. The frame is made of stucco and gilded wood. The inner frame has waterleaf motifs.
