A gilded copper alloy plaque depicting the Lamentation of Christ.
In this baroque composition, the repoussé work creates a whirlwind of mourning figures around the inert Christ. The iconographic theme of the Lamentation depicts Christ having just come down from the Cross, surrounded by Mary, the Holy Women and the apostles, who mourn around his body before he is laid in the tomb.
