Description
A pewter pitcher attributed to Cuny Tronville (1670-after 1733). This baluster-shaped pitcher set on a piedouche is decorated with sober, molded and chased design. The the thumb-operated lever on the lid is in the form of two acorns.
Two hallmarks are stamped on the lid:
– Control mark: crowned C, “Verdun 1733” ;
– Maker’s mark: fleur-de-lys with the initials CT and the date 1704, all beneath a crown.
