Description
A walnut masonic ballot box featuring, circa 1750-1800. Four turned ball feet and corner columns. These columns are a reminder of Solomon’s Temple. The front features the letters B and И, accompanied by two black and white bone inlays. A forged iron lock secures the box. This box can be used for voting in a Freemason lodge for the admission of a layman, for example.
The inverted N is found in the signatures of the Niderviller factory in the 1780s
