A marquetry piece by Paul Spindler (1906-1980) presenting a panoramic view of the town of Andlau.
A marquetry piece by Paul Spindler (1906-1980) presenting a panoramic view of the town of Andlau. In the center, the Romanesque church of Saints-Peter-and-Paul (formerly the abbey church of Saint-Richarde) overlooks the town. To the right, the “Stammhaus”, founded by the local Lordship, stands out among the houses. On the left, the castle of the High-Andlau can be seen, perched on a rocky outcrop. A subtle line suggests the extension of the sub-Vosges hills in the background.
The work is signed “Spindler” in the lower right corner.
