We see a young satyr dancing with a young woman, an allegory of spring. She is naked, her long hair swirling in the wind, creating a sense of lightness. This dreamlike world is accompanied below by a score of the waltz \u2018Fr\u00fchlingsstimmen\u2019 by Johann Strauss II (1825 Vienna \u2013 Vienna 1899). This lithograph is part of a series of ten engravings published in 1913 by Marianne Hitschmann-Steinberger.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Signed in pencil: \u2018Marianne Hitschmann-Steinberger\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Marianne Hitschmann-Steinberger was a Jewish artist born in Austria in 1877. She studied with the Vienna Secession artists Adolf B\u00f6hm and Friedrich K\u00f6nig. She is known for her bookplates, and her illustrations for postcards and children\u2019s books.
