Description

An oil painting on cardboard, depicting a knight and his squire, by Robert Heitz (1895-1984). The artist painted the figures on a dark green background. The knight, wearing armour and carrying a sword attached to his belt, holds a spear in his left hand. He is not wearing a helmet and his face and blond hair are visible. His look and his posture give him a proud appearance. On his right is the young squire, wearing white trousers with red stripes, a red top and a red headdress with a yellow feather. He is wearing his master’s helmet on his right arm, and seems to be looking at the latter with admiration. Finally, at the bottom right, is the artist’s signature “HEITZ”. It should also be noted that on the reverse of this paiting, there is a sketch in black. It represents a tennis player, in full swing, getting ready to send back the ball to his opponent. Behind him, one can see what must be an advertising panel with the letters “LAC”, probably Lacoste.
